SIPs Connections

Structural Insulated Panels: It's A Simple System

One of the best parts of a SIPs system is how easily the panels connect together. Due partly to how the panels connect, the installation of SIPs framing systems is much more efficient than other stick-framing methods. In fact, SIPs structures are installed in days rather than weeks.

About SIPs Structural Connections

Structural Insulated Panels are composed of two sheets of oriented strand board (OSB) structurally laminated and pressure-cured to a rigid core of foam insulation.

SIPs are joined together in one of three ways:

  • 8' long by 3" wide block splines or 4' long by 3" wide OSB splines
  • Dimensional lumber (2x4, 2x6, etc.)
  • Engineered wood Connection (LVL)
